I did take the hub home and hit the beast with the chainwhip and lockring tool last night. And then used them properly, once my ire was spent.
What was strange was that I couldn't get it any tighter, even though there was some definite slippage scant minutes before. And it all looks fairly snug...
So, tonight I'll try stripping it, re-greasing it like crazy, and see if that's any better.
The lockring does look quite beefy though. But that might just have been a combo of exhausted eyes and paranoia seeing that...
Mashton: any excuse for a few hills is always welcoming for my lazy belly. I'll give that a whirl in the morrow.
