Mavic CXP-33s are a good alternative to Deep Vs. Not as sexy, very limited colour options but they work really well as a street/velodrome rims.
BTW you can the Deep Vs without machined sidewalls, which look great if you're a brakeless rider. Pretty heavy rims for the 'drome though.
