    Agreed, and they have. I'd say there are still very good reasons for Canada to comply with its obligations under international law rather than treating them with the same contempt that Trump and the US administration under his presidency do. Otherwise it's just a race to the bottom for anyone.

    Realistically, no. And I'm not sure it would actually help. There's no realistic prospect of the US invading Canada, or Canada unleashing nukes on the US even if it had them, and I don't imagine that the US would sit by and let Russia lob nukes at Canada. I certainly don't think that Russia would assume that it could get away with it without a response.

    I do however think it's reasonable for all countries to work on the assumption that the US will continue to act as if it's being run by a perfidious bunch of morality-free shitbags, because it is. And I totally understand the anger felt in Canada at the contemptuous ramblings of the Orange Babyman.
