    The impression I'm getting from the reporting on this is that compared to here it's really easy to get rid of people in the US without the worker having much recourse to appeal, fair redundancy pay etc. But they do have some labour laws, however weak, which Musk has clearly been ignoring. Imagine the best we can hope for is he gets his ass toothlessly gummed, rather than bitten.

  • I think they have made a massive blunder from the start by taking ownership of, and boasting about, the slash and burn/break it and fix it of silicone valley policies. This isn't a company and the affected are voters, not employees/customers. The chaos loses votes and people will be thinking about the midterms. If repubs think they are losing their seat because of Trump/musk then there is no reason to toe their line.
