Breaking news: Having kids is expensive even if they go to state school.
Childcare, lost wages, increased housing costs, increased bills, increased holiday costs, etc.
Obviously the more extravagant your lifestyle the more it "costs" and the more you could have put into your pension instead.
It's very sad if you choose to see it that way, but then this is just standard Telegraph clickbait that applies to a tiny percentage of the UK population.
