It does seem like a stretch to say this would be something that one fictional character might say to another, yes.
One of the comments on the video was something along the lines of "this is one you'd need several letters from other words for in a crossword and then groan when you finally got it"

Yes, that’s all it is. A weak joke, and it was the only answer it could’ve been. This week’s clues haven’t needed a minute’s thought cumulatively. If they want to charge for it, they’re not exactly showing the product at its best.
