Well, it’s hard to say. Trying to think through what would create a feeling of drag and a hot smell:
- handbrake on
- Brake pads (in main brake caliper, if separate from hand brake) dragging
- Wheel bearing FUBAR
- Suspension so far out of adjustment that the wheel/tyre is rubbing on something
Just wondering if you can see one wheel in a noticeably different position than the other. But really it probably needs someone mechanically inclined looking at it.

Handbrake cable is seized is my bet. Drive it again about a kilometer and see if one wheel gets hot .
