  • I'm house hunting at the moment and getting completely ground down looking for somewhere in London, to the point that the idea of moving out is appealing.
I've just got no idea where. I'd love to move to Brighton but the slight reduction in rent for comparable places would be offset by the cost to get into the office (even if I were to convince work to allow me to work from home 4 days a week, rather than 2).

Where is within reach of Stratford, nice and cheap enough to justify the move? As much green space as possible without being in the middle of nowhere and requiring a car.

  • Essex. It's a wonderful place. No sarcasm.

  • Where is within reach of Stratford

What is keeping you tied to Stratford? Would 100% recommend properly moving your whole life away - then you can pick anywhere you like - not just commuting

  • As much green space as possible without being in the middle of nowhere and requiring a car.

I'm not really sure this is possible.

One downside of moving out of London is that you need a car for everything. Unless you moved to Hove maybe.

  • folkestone is quite accessible if you can factor in the cost of high speed via Ashford.

  • I was in Brighton for 3 years, didn't really like it but can see why other people do. If you do look that way have a look around Preston Park. You won't have to deal with the main station but more importantly it's easier to get to some nice green spaces with the dog. My memory isn't great but living fairly central i don't recall many nice parks or dog walking spots other than the sea front. Hove has some nice green spaces but not sure that would be your jam.

Gutted for you that SE London isn't working out, rental market sucks.
