Think the clutches are a bit of a lottery - mine went at ~70k but there will be others on the original with no issues on 120k, if I was buying another i'd probably hold out for one that's been done or at least give it a "proper" test before buying.
There are loads of R53s around that have been looked after & many will have the mods mentioned above to take them to ~220bhp, i'd probably go for one if I needed a nippy run around, only ended up with the R56 as it was cheap, pretty mint & had low mileage. And the clutch shit itself anyway.
Speaking of R56 minis - this popped up on marketplace, not cheap but looks an absolute riot

Thanks, from reading a few forums looks like a lot of the parts that have been replaced seem to need replacing again.
Are clutches that bad?
Tho I do fancy a MK1 to see if the driving experience is that fun.
