Mine needed a bit of tape to shim the handle to lid gap. Learnt the hard way, grounds everywhere. Also, needs to be raised off the portafilter a bit to drop the grounds nicely. Hope it works well for you!
Thanks for the tip. What do you do after you've got the grounds in the portafilter, tamp straight away? I haven't researched how to use this thing at all, it popped up as a suggested item when I bought the fines sifter/sieve and it was cheap enough to grab without thinking.
Experts say tap the side of the portafilter to collapse the grounds, then tamp. I use a WDT tool to level them out instead because I'm clumsy and it's less messy. As long as you've shaken it beforehand I can't imagine it makes a huge difference.
