  • Mine needed a bit of tape to shim the handle to lid gap. Learnt the hard way, grounds everywhere. Also, needs to be raised off the portafilter a bit to drop the grounds nicely. Hope it works well for you!

  • Thanks for the tip. What do you do after you've got the grounds in the portafilter, tamp straight away? I haven't researched how to use this thing at all, it popped up as a suggested item when I bought the fines sifter/sieve and it was cheap enough to grab without thinking.

  • Experts say tap the side of the portafilter to collapse the grounds, then tamp. I use a WDT tool to level them out instead because I'm clumsy and it's less messy. As long as you've shaken it beforehand I can't imagine it makes a huge difference.
