  • If you were hiring someone to coach you, what would be the considerations and qualifications sought?

I've looked up some of the 'qualifications' people have BC level x, Training peaks level 2, etc and they're basically not a lot you pay some cash for to seem somewhat qualified. Do people value this? Do you want a BSc in sports physiology, or just testimonials on track record?

  • I've never paid someone to coach me. However if I were to do so it would be based on a personal recommendation from someone I trust, customer reviews, years of experience. I wouldn't place any value on formal qualification or certification.

  • I know people who’ve been coached by an ex domestic ‘pro’ with no qualifications and thought he was great.

For me, any qualifications would only be a part of it. The biggest thing for me would be the accountability/motivation factor.

  • Wouldn't be bothered about qualifications really. Most interested in relevant experience and being recommended by others
