Took my Subaru to have a wheel bearing done. Turns out it needs two, and bearings plus labour isn't cheap.

I'm not sure trading for another old second hand car would actually be sensible but I can't help but think about cheating on the Subaru.

I could, but I don't have anywhere to work on the car inside currently and it's about 2C outside. Plus I don't enjoy the stress of working on an old car without a good workshop, when something won't come off or it snaps, just easier to pay someone sometimes.
