The main thing is that you can only claim if:- it's required by your employer
- you use it only for work
- your employer doesn't reimburse you
You can't claim, for example, for
- buying a nice laptop because you don't like your employer-supplied one
- buying a laptop for work which you also use for personal purposes
- it's required by your employer

There's a tax returns thread which is relevant, it covers employee claims in addition to the main focus on self-employed tax affairs.

Maybe not the right thread to ask, but if I'm using BYOD kit for work and want to buy a new laptop, etc, can I expense it or claim tax back on it or some shit to make it cheaper/effectively cheaper?
