Yeah a lot of the Tamiya classics have replacement parts on the bay. Where as modern integrated might not be so easily fixed. Also a 7 year old will prolly prefer standard running gear as opposed to liPo etc which gets spenny and easy to bin. But then u have the option to upgrade as they grow.
