  • I was gifted a Synapse carbon 2012 with a slipping seat post and saddle clamp.

The seat post shows some damage to the carbon so should be replaced. I noticed that the thickness of the post seems to be 27.x mm which made me think to use an aluminum round standard seat post.

Obviously I would need a different clamp for the seat post. Is anyone aware of a replacement clamp for round seat post for these bikes?
I have thought about 3D printing some sort of insert and attach to a round post in order to create the D wing shape of the original seat post, but don’t think this is safe.

I don’t want to spent much money at the moment as I haven’t ridden the bike yet. Basically all moving parts are worn and should be replaced once I know it is a keeper.

  • Appears to be the case yes. Original seatpost is used on 2009-2012 models only.

Haven’t found a shop yet that has the correct one in stock. When there is a price indicated it seems to be about €150 (and not in stock). I find this a bit too much as I do not know if I like the bike or not.

I was/am hoping that there is a cheaper alternative seatpost available somewhere and currently outside my google search bubble.

When bodging something slippage won’t be fixed as PhilDAS points out and I agree.
