I think the sentences for the online hate are clearly more harsh than they would normally be, but that's the point. ... Labour are saying, fuck that.

How would the government influence current court cases? The judiciary is independent.

They've made lots of statements about it, freed up courts and judges giving the message that they want this dealt with quickly.

They haven’t changed the law or the sentencing guidelines. These are a direct output of the Tories who brought in the legislation to clamp down on protest and online abuse.
