Of course, but you're making the assumption that faster is better. :)
You know what's nice? Being able to hook a bike on those stupid train hangers without worrying about a £1500 wheel or spending that £1500 on travel rather than carbon spinny things and then not having to worry about how shit the baggage handling is while waiting for your bike.
It's why I ride a steel bikes for the most part. I just don't worry about them. (I have the Shiv if I want aero)

I'm totally in the aero is king camp as according to "science" bigger, bluffer folks actually benefit more from aero profiles than a seasoned, lean rider does, and because it trumps weight... That side, there's a limit, and if it weren't for the bike in question (especially as it's gravel) I probably wouldn't care and settle on shallow rims.
