Not strictly true. Lots of reasons, like travelling with a bike in bits, adjustable, repairable etc etc.

You can travel with (couplers are available), adjust (although they do that themselves as far as pads go) and repair hydros (massive failures might need harder to find in the wilderness parts, but they're generally more reliable), and they work better.
