In general it is as you say, any tattooist worth their salt wouldn't be hugely keen on just replicating something someone brings in on a bit of paper. Anyone would be ok with you coming in with that and saying "I want a cartridge bearing, sort of like this" though, I would expect.

Both my suggestions are into bicycles in some capacity, if that helps.

Cheers - this is just the sort of advice I needed. I guessed that would be the case these days and I'm not against someone else improving/refining it - I'd want to simplify a bit from my example anyway.

Having done similar recently in the peckham tattoo place in the arches they were absolutely fine working from an existing design, did the transfer as someone said above and i was absolutely happy with the experience and the result.
