  • Does anyone have experience on the lead time of securing covenant consent on an extension? This is with Bromley council in our case. Assuming all is positive and they don’t object and want to rip the whole thing down.
    Partner and I are buying our first place and the vendors didn’t get the consent at the time of building.

  • Depends on each Local Authority, can take quite a while with no guarantees, I'd keep looking at other properties in the meantime. Make sure you don't buy anything until its signed off!

  • Yes definitely, without this we walk away. It’s 14 years into the 20 year period after which no objections can be made. The building is also ex-council and the land was too. Seems like someone just forgot to tick a box at the end of the build, so to speak..
