Did he put the wax just on top of some old regular wet lube?
Also is the chain worn out? Looks like there are some gaps where it sits on the chainring.
No idea re when he applied the wax, quite possibly would be my best guess.
Yes chain is worn and needs replacing but I was interested in how to remove the wax from the frame and components as well as chain.
Will tell him chain needs replacing when I give it back to him.
