As a tight Scotsman, I’m loathe to spend money, but I got a carbon Planet X TT bike with carbon disc rear and deep carbon front wheel, amongst other bits, for the hefty sum of £350.
So while I am guilty of buying more bits, it doesn’t have to be at great expense.
