I'd look 2nd hand.
For your sort of use Imo it'd be better to save something from landfill. It won't be on that long so improvements like energy use aren't going to be major factors.
Our current TV is from at least 2010, possibly before, and it has hdmi. So I think you'd struggle to find something without hdmi.
Edit: a quick skim of fbm and it looks like you could probably get one free.
