You just have to make sure they don't bang the sharp corners on your wooden dining table.
This is the main concern.
Child #1 is a fairly "omg why are you doing that! What are you thinking?!?" sort of child and it's been fine.
Otherwise gift your partner a set with nice photos on them for Xmas. Or suggest to your in-laws that you'd like a set for Xmas.
