  • Got huge NZ v England vibes from 2019 in that Ireland performance. I feel that was their final and they'll get shocked by the ABs in the 1/4s. You could tell the way they celebrated that they'd put everything into it. The fact Boks went 7-1 showed they were prepared to gamble on it (no way they go 7-1 in the knockouts).

This Ireland side are not that England side. They are a different level all together. If SA and Ireland meet again I have it as a coin toss, much like this game was.

  • That 2019 game was a workmanlike side putting in the performance of their lives and burying a considerably better team. It was amazing, unexpectedly transcendent stuff. Yesterday was Ireland doing what they've been doing pretty consistently for the last few years.

True, we might get turned over by Scotland, NZ or France, but it won't be because we've shot our bolt with the one good performance we have in the quiver.

That aside, I'm rapt in admiration of Eddie Jones's consistent talent for breaking teams I don't like. Hoping he takes the Lazio or Sunak campaign manager job next.
