Yes. Huge history, hand made in a mill town in Northern England, blah blah. If the bag is made of cotton duck it will outlive you. Most of the used ones on ebay are made of cotton duck but Carradice also offers other materials, i.e. plastic. Carradice cotton duck is very popular with old bores. It gets you membership of the Expert Tourer club.
To deter hobos from rifling through your bags you could use a motion sensitive alarmed cable lock. They're really cheap and have lots of other uses. They're meant for laptops. I used one in the US but nobody ever tripped it. Maybe there are so many American hobos on bikes that they have a rule not to fuck with bike bags in case it's a fellow gentleman of the road?
