I did ~5 years on a low powered 700
Considered my self a seasoned rider (10k miles a year, all season for 3+ years)
Got the 1200 Trumpet (not a sports bike, but triple the BHP i was used to) and it taught me a few lessons early on.
Nearly binned it on the test drive because the throttle was so twitchy.
Still haven't turn TC off.Couldn't imagine going from a learner 600 Honda to a litre weapon and not getting acquainted with the first thing on the outside of the first bend.

Seeing posts like this fills me with dread. Can’t imagine many taking a thou as a ‘first bike’ and not getting immediately out of shape.
