I don't see why not? My thoughts are, I have a bear valley SE if I end up wanting a geard marin again and these frames are not very expensive so if it fails I'm all good :)

Yeah do it, it will look good. Remember that DNfive do nice replacement graphics if you go that route.
Also angle grinder with a flap disc is the quickest and cleanest way to get those tabs off.
