    Don't forget the pre-1992 coins have better damping at the top end, at the expense of slightly worse phase coherence in the bass. It's worth experimenting with placement of different mixes, e.g. pre-92 front and post-92 rear or vice versa to optimise the sound for your musical preferences. I've even heard of some mad free-jazz fans using diagonal placements, pre-92 inside front and outside rear and post-92 on the other corners‽

  • I use 1987 Maundy money, 3p at the back and 4p at the rear. I find silver gives a dynamic presence if slightly less imaging height/depth than small denomination coins froma decimalisation commemorative set
