Yeah even a rival xdr cassette is about £90 which is closer to 11 speed dura ace prices…
There’s an Apex axs groupset coming out soon, I’m hoping it comes with £30ish xdr cassettes.
I think the best budget option using a shimano 12 speed 105 level cassette, chain and chainrings with axs mechs.
This is my plan for an incoming winter bike. -
I'm going to be trying the XPLR derailleur with an Eagle MTB cassette. Apparently it works!
I've managed to get an Eagle AXS derailleur to work well with an 11 speed 10/42 cassette. No skipping or jumping at all. It was only used on a Kickr turbo trainer so can't say what it'd be like on the road but no reason to think it'd be much different.

Those of you that snapped up a cheap AXS derailleur - what cassettes are you planning on using?
The crazy cost of AXS cassettes kind of defeat the purpose of trying a cheap and fun AXS setup.
