I've had metal from grinders, metal from welding and oil based paint removed from my eye over 30 odd years. The grinder spark came in the vent on a pair of googles, that's just bad luck.
Totally agree with you though. Everyone has to take eye PPe seriously, even if it's just to avoid the massive queue at Moorfields which is an enormous time sink.
