  • Has anyone had much luck riding long distances with their dog on an omnium mini-max? Mine can't stand being in a trailer, and I don't like towing it behind me out of sight. I'm currently looking for an alternative where she would be comfortable on the journey, and that isn't terribly unenjoyable for me to ride.

  • No personal experience of a dog, but I find placement of larger loads on an Omnium pretty important for handling and stability. Not sure I’d want a large dog moving around too much on the front of mine, but a small dog would probably be fine.

Only thought is that if they don’t like the trailer, would they like any bike?

If you follow the omniumbikes Instagram page they are always reposting posts of people carrying their dogs, but they all generally seem to be smaller terriers/spaniels rather than Labrador sized dogs.

  • yes, I have a Mini Max which my dog is a big fan of riding on. We’ve done 100km on road in one day and about 55km off road in one day. To be honest that’s more down to my limitations than our dog’s.
I’m looking forward to getting the new fold down box as that will be perfect for dogs, particularly if you don’t always need to carry them

  • A couple of my colleagues at Paradise Cycles have been welding up some 'Hunderbars' for a while. It inserts into the rack of a mini-max or cargo like an extender bar to offer an elongated platform, a comfortable base and a 2 point harness to make sure dogs are secure whether they are standing, sitting or lying down.

We have sold a few and have always had good feedback. The latest one went to a labrador owner on a mini-max, so even fairly big dogs are fine.

We sold this bike; https://www.paradisecycles.co.uk/omnium-x-sentient-eminimax-wifi-v3-bike.html to Jimi from Attacus.CC and it was reviewed very well on Francis Cade's youtube chanel. Jimi and his partner have been doing some training on it with their nervous poodle type dog.

It also has our own small custom Bafang battery on it. We have since found a solution to clean up the Bafang wiring!!

  • I'm one of the new Paradise (Hunder Bar) Mini-Max's owners and my Mini Schnauzer loves it! The harness that James makes gives me confidence he's secure but I reckon we'll only need the front harness soon. The element that juts out at the front takes some of the wind from them but allows them to see which might solve your problem.

  • Check out JC @cargodoggo on IG, he travelled to Mexico with his furry friend.

The upcoming fold-down box is very good (for dogs and everything else), one of my colleague uses the first prototype for his large, rather active dog so a small one will be no bother.
