Might be better to wear something like this under normal jeans, or bike jeans without armour. At least that's the conclusion I've come to after years of wearing bike based jeans with armour in.

In general the Knox under armour stuff works well for more casual short trip outfits.

Any recommendations for casual looking jeans with some sort of abrasive resistance / subtle armour?
For those "popping to the shops" rides.
(I know, nothing beats leathers, but if I am popping to town, I'm not doing more than 30 on the way there, which is not dissimilar to speeds on the road bike and I'll have shorts on then)
I wear an athletic cut (decades of cycling gave me thighs, middle age gave me a larger waist)
