I’d imagine for the exact reason that people think it’s not a charity worth supporting so their funds are low. They bought the painting previously so why not sell it on to get money in.
Wasn't Gordon Taylor the highest paid union Chief Exec (earning up to £2m pa)? He left last year with a bonus of £1.4m. Maybe that's why they are selling the Lowry?
