  • Haha!

Mine arrived a couple of days ago! I was surprised that it turned up so quickly.
I actually decided not to bother posting about it here again since it seemed frowned upon (rightly so) and I didn’t want to come across like I was promoting buying fakes. I just didn’t want to pollute the thread with it 😂

I think I’m getting close to half way through it.
Obviously the first thing I done was compare how the bricks feel to my daughters genuine Lego.
To be honest they feel very similar in the hand. The real and fakes both dent the same amount if you dig a nail in and they both feel about the same in terms of flex. However, they certainly are considerably less in terms of quality overall and the actual surface finish.
The fakes all have lots of surface scratches when held under the light. The real Lego, some of which is many years old, all still have a high gloss appearance with virtually no scratches.
The dimensions of the bricks can sometimes be off by a quarter of a millimetre. That’s not much, but at the scale of a Lego brick it becomes quite apparent, especially on larger flat surfaces. Having said that, I think it’s overall quality is higher than I was really expecting.

It really is a direct, brick for brick, one to one copy. I haven’t came across any missing parts. Not yet anyway…

I can’t deny I’m enjoying the build though, probably because of the strong sentimental value of BTTF.
There’s some nice Technics elements in it, the mechanism for folding the wheels up is impressive.

I still feel a bit cringe about buying a fake though and I’ve came to the decision that I’m going to buy the real thing. I’ll keep this one for my 4 year old son to play with however he wants. The real one will sit high up on the bookshelf!
