• Ah sorry to hear about the bike. Shoes were still clipped to the pedals?

I had shimano 47E (E=widefit) shoes, the carbon sole cracked when I tripped on a kerb. They are no longer produced and I’ve yet to find another Shimano shoe that fits like the old one. They seem to have got shorter and narrower over the years.
Currently still using the old ones held together with duct tape and super glue… nice chilly draft on my right foot while riding.

  • No, I just kept them in the garage rather than the house. They took my pump and bike stand too...can only assume they had a car and chucked it all in. It's the shoes that have been the most annoying to replace though!

The frustrating thing is you don't really know if they're right until you've ridden in them for an hour or so, by which point you can't really return them... Good luck on your quest for new ones! Lake CX176 wide fit are on sale for £75 at Sigma if you haven't tried them already.
