It needs to be ultralight, and 90-100% merino, not a polyester mix. I'm not sure that cycling clothing companies make such things. They are expensive and wear out quickly. I got this one https://www.icebreaker.com/en-gb/mens-baselayers/bodyfitzone-merino-150-zone-short-sleeve-crewe-thermal-top/104346.html?dwvar_104346_color=351 for touring and wore it as my only layer for cycling in 40+ C. Just right. And it never smells.
I’ve heard this but everything merino I’ve ever had has been too hot in hot weather so not convinced - I don’t think it’s what I’d put on for a turbo session, say…
