• I've pondered attempting to start a 'Smooth' campaign.
    The term contractors used by Councils to compact the wearing course on bike lanes and shared bike lanes have one-man Wacker Plates with a very small footprint,
    ideal for patch repairs, but totaly inadequate for the 1.2/2.4m wide bike lanes.

    The current generation of bike lanes are dreadful to ride along as all the (near-) corrugations
    lead to an unsettling journey that is more tiring due to all the minor inclines.
    No Council would accept this non-level surface for a carriageway/road.
    Why do cyclists have to accept a surface that is not fit for purpose?
