Did Clockwork Orange have any protests before it was banned? I know that the big concern was copycat violence and that there was a specific incident that led to the ban, but wondered if people protested against it.

Was it banned?

I thought Cubric pulled it in the UK because the police pointed out that he lived in a house in the middle of the countryside much like one of the victims in the film and he shat it.

I did not know that. You are right. There was intense media pressure to ban it but ultimately it was his decision. No idea if it would have been banned if he hadn't have volunteered.
