  • Lady of Heaven movie pulled from screens;

    I’m going to tread carefully here, but as far as I can see there are a great number of religions (all of whom, of course are right). There are many political standpoints and who knows how many cultures (certainly many more than nation states).

    There is probably nothing more controversial than a cheddar and onion sandwich that isn’t offensive to a group somewhere. Wait, a vegan could well be offended.

    How on earth is one supposed to navigate the shoals?

    (I do, of course, appreciate that the movie in question was a bit of a shoo-in to tick off a vocal group…. But…..)

  • It’s only news because the pressure not to show a film was done by people with black and brown faces. Mary Whitehouse has been doing this shit for decades and it’s accepted.

  • Er, is it?

    Mary Whitehouse did use to do this, yeah, but that was 40 years ago. I don’t recall any groups of people protesting to ban any films in this country during my lifetime, and certainly not successfully. It’s news, and thinking so doesn’t have to be influenced by ideas about race
