I was mooching around a little earlier and remembered i'd ran past the tree sentinel there. if you spawn in the boss room after you've beat him the sentinel only comes in as far as the door and he just has 2 ranged moves you can dodge roll away from. I swapped to 6 blue flasks and cheesed him with ranged weapon art attacks.

yeah that second phase really got me until I realised the safest place is right behind the guy and to roll towards him
