Thinking more on the suggestion of committing midi to audio - I've got a bit of a problem where I expect to be able to recreate every sound I make due to a compulsive need to be able to go back and fine-tune every element "just in case" which has never been realistic when working with analog synths. It later mutated into having really bloated project files on my MPC because I'd keep every version of a sample I processed/resampled/trimmed "just in case" and it's just bogged everything down.
Starting a Noise project last year really helped me to get comfortable with letting these habits go and committing more things to audio without worry and even gave me a [slightly] better understanding of how to record things properly in the process.
