Yeah this has also helped me a bit I think. I tend to use 90-100% hardware and getting the DAW sync right and a template set up (for example with busses and delay/reverb fx sends already in place) made a big difference to me. Just being able to get stuff down more quickly without getting drawn into faffing about and tweaking plugins forever.
