Yep, that's it exactly - despite having various brushes / combs / stripping tools, they're all useless if you can't catch her in the first place!
She went all quiet after her haircut for a couple of days, like she was self-conscious... maybe it was the fact me & my daughter stood laughing at her for a good 5 minutes in the groomers (then she joined in too) before we could compose ourselves enough walk down the street to the house, who knows... can't see from the photo but she's got quite a long neck - she looked like an Alpaca when we picked her up

This is a very familiar situation! Ours (miniature poodle) goes to the groomers looking like just like Mavis and often within about ten minutes I get the call of shame that he's got matted and he comes back looking like a totally different, much smaller, really chirpy looking dog :)
We can't brush him at home - if he sees a brush he runs out the room and we have to chase him around the house
