If you're planning on not sitting on your arse anyway then may as well get the diagnosis now so that you have the info for when you do listen to them.
That sounds more passive aggressive than it was intended. Just meant get the info regardless of what you plan to do with it.
I guess the issue is that if there is a problem and the doc says non to skiing, then any further insurance is invalid if Dammit does still slide about?
