    I think the rule is only that you have to start with the light. It can fall off afterwards so shouldn't cost you 5 watts all day. In fact, if you chuck it backwards hard enough you might get an advantage...

  • I guess I'll wait and see what's in the regs next year. I wanted to test out some new arm positions - maybe I could test some light mounts at the same time? I bet I don't get around to any of it.

  • I actually did use a front light for all my 12 hours, between 8 and 5 years ago (after I had a car pull out without seeing / looking and nearly hit me on the Amersham Road).

    I mounted a coin cell flashing light directly under my right pad. It was pretty small so can't have had much drag. A few people commented on how it was noticeable. Support crew liked it.

    Funnily enough, I just took it off the bike a couple of nights ago - not been used in years.
