• Into my flat this week and first job really is kitchen and bathroom! Getting some people round to take a look but my dad keeps suggesting to speak to an architect first to see what can be done with the floorplan. Not sure that's necessary as there's a limit amount that can be done...

Any tips for new kitchen/bathroom? I have a rough budget, and thinking getting it done by the same person to get a better deal and have it all done at once. Gas meter is under the bath so that needs moving

  • I had a kitchen about that size in my last flat and although it was a bit small when cooking big meals it was generally fine 99% of the time (although caveated that I either lived alone or with my girlfriend so there wasn't a point when two people were cooking).

It could obviously be done better to make better use of space but there's not neccesarily a need to leap to knocking down walls.

I also had a fair few quotes to redo mine and some were massive with custom hobs and the like to maximise space but realistically it made very little difference so I wouldn't spend too much on it.

  • I'm fine with the kitchen size as is to be fair. Girlfriends kitchen is much smaller but works for the two of us cooking together
