Stanton Sherpa 29er frame for sale. Had this from new and it’s been a brilliantly versatile and capable bike for me, so I’m almost certainly going to regret selling it. But as is my weakness (illness possibly) I’ve got an itch to try something different.
It’s what Stanton called a “Next Gen UK” frame. It’s boost 12x148 spacing and is a custom colour (Mocha Grey). Size is officially a small (their 17”), but with an effective top tube of 600mm it’s equivalent to medium in nearly all the frames I’m likely to replace this with. I’m 5’9” btw. It’s basically Stanton’s XC/trail model suited to 100mm forks. It will take 29er wheels with generous clearance or 650B+ wheels/tyres. I’ve used it with both 29x2.35 wheels/tyres and 650x3.0 tyres and it’s fantastic in all guises.
I’ve also used it in a more winter road/gravel format with a longer stem, narrower bars and a rigid fork and it’s fantastic like this too. You can see why I’ve enjoyed it so much and why I’m on the fence about letting it go.
It uses Reynolds 853 tubing although I’m not sure which tubes exactly are 853, but assume use the main tubes, not the stays. It’s internally coated to prevent rust and it has internal cable routing for a dropper (30.9mm diameter). Threaded BB a massive plus for me. It was £799 when I bought it in early 2019, although this spec with custom paint like this would be closer to £1k looking at their website now.
As I’ve said I’m a bit on the fence about selling it and what to sell exactly, but as a minimum I think I want to sell the frame itself with the Hope headset (purple - takes a tapered fork) and Hope seat clamp (silver). Also comes with the rear thru axle. But I might also sell it with the rigid Genesis fork which is aluminium, but light and is also boost 15x110 spacing.
Condition is good in that there’s not damage/dings/dents etc but it’s been used and so there’s a bit of cable rub and dulling of the paint in places from cleaning etc. Can take some close up pics if anyone interested to see more.
I’m thinking £550 with the Genesis rigid fork, Hope headset and Hope seat clamp, £475 without the fork but with the headset and seat clamp. I’m near Maidstone so postage at cost is doable if you can’t collect. Might be able to meet at a mutually convenient location depending where you are. Any questions, please ask.
Also have a number of other components that I could potentially package together to make it more bike shaped including brand new 29er boost wheels with tyres and possibly the XT chainset, 2 rides old 36t oval Blackspire NW chainring and almost new BB. The rest of the drivetrain and brakes I'm definitely keeping. Also have bars, stem, grips etc. If interested message me for more details on the other items.
A few pics of it in it’s different formats to follow….
