I've only ever used propane sized camp stoves when car camping otherwise I've gone for cold food and externally-sourced food so no, I have no idea what any of these things are like.
If there are options that are definitely shit and should be avoided it'd be good to know. I guess with an MSR or alc I'll be a way away from people but I don't know how busy proper campsites are in Scotland, nor how often we'd be in one versus wildcamping.
I've seen those meths burning, hand-made coke can stoves but perhaps for two people something bigger to boil one larger pot at one time makes more sense.

Dunno if you know, but MSR rocket stoves are LOUD. Like hot air balloon, anti-social in a campsite, loud. Alcohol / paraffin (?) stoves like an army surplus trangia are larger and not as powerful, but quieter and usually cleverly designed (modular).
