It’s a convenient way of making his role in the government’s failings seem more impactful. ‘No wonder BoJos plans haven’t worked if this guy is too busy snogging to put it to work’. Add in BoJos leaked message and it’s pretty clear they’re set to pin everything they can on him, not unlike BoJos previous collaborators.

That would make perfect sense were Johnson not well known for extra-maritally impregnating his female employees without consequence.
Labour say the affair is an abuse of power, Johnson can't exactly take that line can he? Unless of course he just does and no-one says anything, apart from Laura K cheering him on.
